Basement Renovations
Basement Renovations in the Des Moines Metro
A basement is the largest amount of space most homeowners can add without adding a single square foot to the house.
We finish and rebuild basements across the Des Moines metro — unfinished square footage turned into rooms that feel like the rest of the home rather than a level below it. Layout, egress, ceiling height, lighting and storage are planned together, because in a basement those constraints decide each other.
Your estimate and your planning session are both free.

Before You Start
What to think about.
0 1
Plan around the mechanicals, not through them
Furnace, water heater, panel and ductwork are fixed points, and they shape where walls can go. A plan that acknowledges them from the start produces better rooms than one that has to be reworked around them halfway through.
0 2
Ceiling height drives the lighting plan
What works at eight feet does not work at seven. Fixture type and placement are planned for the height you actually have, which is the difference between a finished basement that feels like a room and one that feels like a basement.
0 3
Decide how the space will really be used
One large open room, a bedroom with egress, a bathroom, a bar, or a mix — each pushes the plan in a different direction. This is worth resolving during the free planning session, while changing your mind costs nothing.
0 4
Moisture comes before finishes
Any existing water or humidity issue is addressed as part of the plan rather than covered over. Finishing a basement that has not been dealt with is how finished basements fail.
How It Works
Six steps, agreed in writing.
Initial project discussion
You tell us what you want changed. We listen first, then ask the questions that shape the scope.
Scope and material planning
We plan the work and the materials with you, before anything is ordered or demolished.
A clear, written estimate
A detailed estimate built around your agreed scope and material choices. No hidden fees.
Scheduling
We agree the start date and the order the work happens in, so you know what to expect.
Execution
Careful work, a protected and clean job site, and clear communication throughout.
Final walkthrough
We walk the finished space together and address anything before the project is called done.
For basements, scope and material planning is where the floor plan is resolved against the mechanicals and the ceiling height — before a single wall is framed.

What homeowners say.
We are so happy with how our basement remodel and bathroom renovation project went with Tyler. He was very professional, knew what he was talking about, and had great communication all throughout the project. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for work to be done!

Questions
Basement questions.
Yes. Starting from unfinished space is the most common basement project we take on, and it is the one where planning makes the largest difference, because every wall position is still open.
Together, during the free planning session. We walk the space, work around the fixed mechanical points, and talk through how you intend to use each area. The agreed plan is what the written estimate is built on.
The scope you agreed and the materials you chose, itemised in writing. Basements vary more than any other room, which is exactly why the estimate is built from your specific plan rather than a standard figure.
Yes. Updating a basement finished a generation ago is common across the established parts of the metro, and it often means reworking the layout rather than simply refinishing what is there.
