Kitchen Renovations
Kitchen Renovations in the Des Moines Metro
A kitchen renovation is a planning project that happens to involve cabinets.
We rebuild kitchens for Des Moines-area homeowners with the layout, cabinetry, counters and appliance placement resolved on paper before any demolition begins. That order matters: cabinetry is the longest-lead and least reversible part of the job, and it has to be specified against a layout you have already agreed to.
Your estimate and your planning session are both free.

Before You Start
What to think about.
0 1
The work triangle is decided before demo, not during
Where the sink, range and refrigerator sit in relation to each other is the difference between a kitchen that is pleasant to cook in and one that merely looks finished. It is planned first, because everything else is built around it.
0 2
Cabinetry sets the schedule
Cabinets have the longest lead time in the room and the least tolerance for a late layout change. Specifying them against a settled plan is what keeps the project moving and the estimate accurate.
0 3
Opening up a wall is a separate decision
Many older homes in the metro were built with the kitchen as a closed-off room. Removing a wall changes how the whole floor works — and it is a structural question that belongs in the planning session, not an afterthought.
0 4
Plan for how the household eats during the work
A kitchen is out of service for the duration of the work. We agree the sequence in advance and set up what we reasonably can, so you know what you are working with for the whole project rather than finding out on day one.
How It Works
Six steps, agreed in writing.
Initial project discussion
You tell us what you want changed. We listen first, then ask the questions that shape the scope.
Scope and material planning
We plan the work and the materials with you, before anything is ordered or demolished.
A clear, written estimate
A detailed estimate built around your agreed scope and material choices. No hidden fees.
Scheduling
We agree the start date and the order the work happens in, so you know what to expect.
Execution
Careful work, a protected and clean job site, and clear communication throughout.
Final walkthrough
We walk the finished space together and address anything before the project is called done.
For kitchens, scope and material planning carries extra weight: cabinetry and counters are specified in that step, and both are difficult to change once ordered.

Questions
Kitchen questions.
Typically layout, cabinetry, counters, backsplash, sink and faucet, appliance placement and lighting, plus the surface work that ties them together. The exact scope is yours to set during planning and is confirmed in your written estimate.
Either. Replacing finishes within the existing layout and reworking the layout entirely are both normal projects — they are simply different scopes, and the planning session is where you find out what each one involves.
Planning, then demolition, then the trades in the order the room requires, with cabinetry and counters timed around their lead times. The sequence is agreed at the scheduling step so you know what each stage looks like.
